19 of the Russian's twenty-one victories have been earned on hard courts

A comeback the Russian player secured his maiden title for 882 days with a win over Corentin Moutet in the competition championship match.

Medvedev, a former number one, has endured a challenging period, managing just one win at the Grand Slams and suffering a setback at the US Open.

Medvedev's varied form on the professional circuit - and difficulties with his serve in specific - led to him exiting of the top ten and ultimately parting ways with long-term coach Cervara.

Now working with Johansson and his other coach, the tennis star has steadily progressed in the last few weeks - peaking in a closely contested three-set win over opponent Moutet.

This represents his first title following the 2023 Rome Masters and first on a hard court since that period of 2023.

Victory also signifies Medvedev has won 21 victories at 21 different events.

"For the first time I am participating in a event with my both daughters simultaneously, so to win a trophy is especially meaningful," said ranked player Daniil Medvedev.

"This title is in honour of my younger daughter my daughter, because the maiden victory I won when my first daughter Alisa was delivered was for her."

The athlete, the former major winner, had lost his last six finals, including in Halle earlier this year.

Medvedev's defensive play style and frequent reactions on the tennis court had led some to question if his ability to perform at the elite level was concluded.

However the player has implemented adjustments in the last few weeks, striving to come to the net and perform assertively, backed up by an improved serve.

He fought back from a deficit in the initial set against the tricky opponent, securing 4 of the concluding five games to gain the advantage.

Both players swapped breaks in the middle set before the challenger, bidding for his first professional victory, took control to force a third set.

Moutet rescued four early-game break points in a tight final set before Medvedev secured a break to 15 to close out the victory.

Fittingly, Medvedev secured the title with a shot at the net area, with the Frenchman incapable to manage a return after a lengthy match.
